If you've been a comic reader in the last 15 years you'd have to be living under a rock not to know who Brian Michael Bendis. Bendis, a five time Eisner recipient, is arguably one of the most successful individuals working in the industry today.
Speaking recently from his native town of Cleveland, Ohio, BMB gave an enlightening TED Talk regarding what it's like working as both an author and artist in the sequential art industry. Bendis, having tenure in both independent comics and the major leagues provides incredible insight in to exactly what it's like for an aspiring creator in the industry.
What is refreshing however is to hear Bendis's description of "The Little Boxes," those small white panels you use to see on the cover page of a book. Those small panels that would contain the individuals that would bring these fantastic stories to life for the reader.
If you've ever been interested in a career as a storyteller I highly recommend watching this video. A must for sequential creators and quite beneficial for artists of other mediums as well.
