Hello! My name is Caitlin and I am a maker. Since a young age, I have been driven to add beautiful things to the world through a variety of crafts. It’s given me an outlet to flex my creative problem solving skills as well as satisfy my lifelong urge to learn.
I was taught sewing basics as a child but have primarily self-taught myself through books, online tutorials and practice over the last six years. I am currently self-employed as a costume commissioner. While many of my clients are cosplayers in superhero costumes, I have also dabbled in costuming for film as well as drag.
Working on such a random set of projects has lead to developing a very eclectic skill set.
Over the years my background in hospitality has given me a wide variety of transferable skills. It has enhanced my eye for paying attention to detail, proven the importance of anticipating the needs of others, and the provided experience in customized customer service.
The five-diamond standards I became accustomed to providing have become part of who I am. I've gained experience working with teams at a variety of properties, including the Wild Dunes Resort, The Inn at Biltmore Estate, The Red Room, and the Proximity Hotel. While at the Proximity I worked as the Manager on Duty for several years, giving me invalauable leadership experience with a diverse group of people.
My educational background came from the University of North Carolina State in the Parks, Tourism and Recreation major with a concentration in commercial tourism. This unique culmination of skills allows me to marry my background in hospitality with my passion for adventure and the desire to instill happiness in others.
